Explore the center of Ancient Greece on a full-day tour of Delphi, site of the oracle, and famous for its amphitheater and Temple of Apollo.

Departing from Athens in the morning, we make our first stop at Chaeronea, the land of Plutarch.   At the entrance of the village you will see a 6 meter tall marble statue of the Lion of Chaeronea and the Archeological Museum.

We continue to our main destination and at about a distance of 180 km from Athens, nestled high at the foot of Mount Parnassos, we reach Delphi, one of the most sacred and beautiful ancient sites in Greece, known as the cultural and religious center and referred to in the ancient years as the “Navel of Earth.”  You will have the opportunity to visit the Sanctuary of Delphi (4th century BC).   Here is where according to mythology, the Pythia, name given to the priestess who served as the Oracle, was widely credited for her prophecies inspired by the spirit of the god Apollo.  She was without a doubt the most powerful woman of the classical world as she influenced the fate of states and individuals for 1000 years.

Visit the Temple of Apollo, the Castallian Spring, the Ancient Stadium that hosted the Pythian Games, and follow the sacred way to the Athenian Treasury.  Tour the Museum of Delphi, home to a unique bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinous, and many other archaeological treasures.

As we leave Delphi, we stop for lunch at the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, with numerous traditional taverns and shops selling local products.  This village is a popular destination because of the Ski Center at beautiful Mount Parnassos.

On our way back towards Athens, our last stop is Mount Helikon and the Monastery of Osios Loukas, famous for its mosaics and one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
