Acropolis & Plaka

Upon meeting your guide, you begin your tour at the Acropolis, where you will visit the Dionysus sanctuary and Dionysus Theatre built in the 5th century BC.  Your knowledgeable guide will give you a detailed explanation of the Acropolis monuments such as, the Parthenon, the Erectheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple and the surrounding monuments, including the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Observatory and the Philopappos.

Continue strolling through the area of Plaka, the oldest and most attractive district of Athens known as the “neighborhood of the gods,” as it is dominated by the sacred rock of the Acropolis.  The moment you start walking on its paved narrow lanes you get the feeling that you travel back in time.  In addition to its substantial history, expect to find a wide variety of museums in the area, as well as coffee houses, restaurants and many souvenir shops.
