Tours are a great way to enhance your vacation by allowing you to learn about Greece’s rich history and culture.  To find out which tour is right for you begin by determining what your schedule and budget are.  Then decide what are your interests.  Is it ancient history and archaeological sites, culture and museums, religious sites and monasteries?  You may select a category by visiting our website’s Private Tours Athens and Private Tours Around Greece pages.  We have many one day or multi-day itinerary suggestions so you don’t need to worry about what to see or how much time to spend on each site.  Alternatively, we can customize an itinerary to meet your particular needs.

Our tours are not physically demanding and most require walking.  Some of the archaeological sites require uphill walking over dirt or paved surfaces.  Others may require climbing steps. You can explore at your own pace.  On our website, you will find at the end of each tour description a Special Instructions category that will inform you of the specific demands for each site.  We strongly recommend comfortable clothing and walking shoes, preferably flat-soled.

Changes requested before the trip must be received by us in writing no later than 48 hours prior to your travel date and time.  Changes accepted for confirmed Private Tours for which payment has been completed may include: departure date and time, pick up location, number of passengers and amendments within an existing itinerary.  The possibility of making changes lies at the discretion of Exceptional Journey and any extraordinary changes may not be possible after Booking is confirmed.

Requests for itinerary amendments during the trip: We will make every effort to accommodate your request, however it is not guaranteed that we may be able to comply as last minute changes are subject to availability.

Greece is a great destination for families and although our Private Tours may include subjects such as ancient history, architecture or culture, school age children will be fascinated by stories of Greek mythological heroes and gods, discovering museums, historical monuments and ancient sites which they will find to be exciting yet educational at the same time.  As an alternative, if you are interested in family-oriented private tours with children friendly activities we can suggest during your stay in Athens, venues such as a zoological park, amusement park and water fun park.

Tour drivers are not professional licensed tour guides.  According to Greek laws, tour drivers are not licensed to accompany you inside the sites and they may provide only commentary and basic information inside the vehicle.  A licensed tour guide has the necessary qualifications issued by the appropriate authority to guide visitors around a particular site and is able to interpret the history, heritage and cultural aspects of an area.  If you wish to have a professional licensed tour guide, you may hire one at extra cost.

Group travel is perfect for those who are looking to get away on vacation with their family and friends.  Whether it’s a family reunion, a company event or a special interest trip, group travel is an exciting and fun way to explore Greece.

Our group tours accommodate groups of 15 to 45 persons and offer the flexibility of selecting the number of days your group members want to travel.

Coordinating group travel requires careful planning and in order to ensure that you get the best price and experience for your group members, we require a minimum of 6 months advance booking.

The Group Organizer is the liaison between the tour members and our travel specialist, and is also responsible for finalizing itinerary details and payment collection.  Once on tour, the Group Organizer is the main contact person for the group.

MEETING INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRANSFERS will be included on your Booking Confirmation with specific details on how to find your driver at the Athens International Airport and Piraeus Port.  You will also be given instructions on what to do if your flight is delayed or arrives early, or in the event you miss your flight.  For more information on Transfer bookings and conditions, please view our Terms & Policies section.

Gratuities are optional but always greatly appreciated.   If you’re happy with the services you received, providing a tip at the end of your trip is of great significance to the person who performed the services.

Greece is a Member-State of the European Union and has ratified the Schengen Agreement.  Visas are not required by citizens of Member-States of the Schengen Agreement.  Other nationals can obtain further information from the Hellenic Embassies or Consulates in their countries.

Greece is a Member-State of the European Union and uses its uniform currency – the Euro. Currency exchange rates are clearly displayed in every bank that accepts currency exchange, as well as at exchange offices that are situated at the airport and certain main ports, and at many tourist destinations.  A passport is required when exchanging currencies.  Credit or debit cards are used almost anywhere in Greece for paying hotel or restaurant bills.  You can also use them to withdraw cash from ATMs.

If you are traveling to Greece in the summer, light casual clothing is in order.  For touring archaeological sites, we recommend comfortable clothes and walking shoes, preferably flat-soled.   For protection from the heat and sun, we strongly suggest you wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

To enter religious centers and monasteries appropriate clothing is required.  Sleeveless clothing and shorts are permitted, as long as you cover your shoulders and knees. A shawl might come in handy to cover the shoulders or to be tied around the waist over shorts.  At some monasteries, skirts and shawls are available at the entrance for those who are unprepared.
