Discover some of Greece’s greatest treasures and the best of modern Athens on a 4 hour morning or afternoon sightseeing tour.

You begin your tour with a visit to the famous Acropolis, the most characteristic monument of the ancient Greek civilization and a UNESCO world heritage site.  Located on a flat-topped rock that rises 150 meters (490 ft) above sea level, there is evidence that the hill was inhabited as far back as the 4th millennium BC.  It was Pericles (c. 495 – 429 BC) in the 5^th century BC who coordinated the construction of the site’s most important ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, such as the Propylaea, the monumental gate to the Acropolis; the Temple of Athena Nike, protecting the gate of the Acropolis; The Parthenon, which was dedicated to Athena Parthenos, the patron Goddess of the city of Athens and Goddess of Wisdom; and the Erechtheion, known for six statues of maidens, the Karyatides.

We continue our tour of Athens, where you will discover important landmarks and sites of the historical city center, such as the remaining colossal columns of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, dedicated to the king of the Olympian Gods, the monumental gateway Arch of Hadrian, and the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896.

For a breathtaking panoramic view of Athens, we will drive up to the pine-forested slopes of Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in Athens and where you will have the opportunity to take photos of the amazing views.

And to complete the tour, you will be taken through different sites of interest, where you will be able to make brief stops.  Visit the “Trilogy” of neo-classical architecture in Athens: the National Library, the National University of Athens and the Academy of Athens.  Followed by Syntagma Square in front of the House of the Greek Parliament, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier monument, where you can watch the changing of the guards.
